If you’re new to the world of Nu Spa, you’ll no doubt have a number of questions about how your spa visit will go. We want to ensure that from the minute you enter our Spa, you feel relaxed, comfortable and ready to unwind. So, we’ve put together some handy tips to guide you through your spa experience.

AGE POLICY
Please note that you must be 18 years+ for treatments and use any of our facilities.

SPA ARRIVAL & USE OF SPA FACILITIES
As part of your package with us, you will be able to enjoy the use of our fitness/spa facilities – fitness suite, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and relaxation loungers. Depending on how you wish to plan your day, it is completely up to you whether you wish to use the facilities before your treatment, after or a bit of both.

TREATMENT TIME
Packages - ALL our packages that offer treatments will have a specific treatment time allocation. This time is confirmed on booking with us and stated on the confirmation emailed to you. We do not offer the flexibility for clients to choose their own treatment times on the day. We ask that you arrive at the spa reception area, ready for your treatment (to prevent any delays), 10 minutes prior to your treatment time.

Treatment only - If you’re visiting the spa for a treatment only, we ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before your treatment time. This will ensure that you have plenty of time to check in, complete your treatment consultation and start to unwind before the treatment begins.

TREATMENT CHOICES
All our packages come with a variety of treatment choices. This information can be found within the package details. Your treatment choice will be discussed and decided with the spa therapist on the day.

MEDICAL QUESTIONNAIRE
Please be aware you will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire form prior to your treatments. Please notify your therapist of any areas of concern. Please make contact with us prior to your arrival if you are undergoing any ongoing treatment / surgery.

NEED TO CANCEL?
We understand that plans often change. If you find you’re unable to make your treatment, please let us know 48 hours beforehand. Any cancellations made less than 48 hours, unfortunately, appointments will be lost as we will be unable to refill time allocation on such short notice. Please note, that you are able to gift your spa day to another person/s in the event of the above with no additional charge.

SHARE ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
If you have any type of medical condition/allergies that could be made worse or that we need to consider during your treatment, please let us know when you book. Certain treatments are not suitable for particular medical conditions, though we may be able to suggest an alternative that works for you.

BODY TREATMENTS AND FACIALS
If you’ve enjoyed a workout in the Health Club, or a dip in the pool before your body treatment, we ask that you shower before your treatment commences. This ensures any sweat, chlorine or chemicals aren’t massaged into your skin. Clean skin also makes for a smoother massage with our selection of oils.

Feeling sleepy? Falling asleep tells us that you’re truly relaxed. So if you fancy a snooze during your treatment, please do go ahead and drift off.

THE NUDITY QUESTION
If you’ve booked a body massage, you don’t have to enjoy it in the nude! Your therapist will use draping techniques to keep as much of you covered, with the exception of the individual areas they are working on. This ensures you keep your modesty, and also that our fluffy towels keep you warm and snug.

When preparing for your massage, we ask that you remove all clothing, except for underwear, and get yourself comfortable on the treatment bed, covered by a towel if you prefer.

FANCY A CHAT?
Many guests prefer to enjoy their treatments quietly, listening to the soothing sounds played in our relaxing treatment rooms. For others, they like to enjoy a chat with their therapist. If you’d prefer not to have complete silence, that’s ok. Our therapists are very friendly and always happy to chat with you or leave you in peace. They’ll simply follow your lead.

PREGNANCY & TREATMENTS
Please be aware, that under no circumstances do we conduct treatment to any of our clients in the first trimester of pregnancy. During the second and third trimester, your well-deserved treatments will be adapted accordingly.

IT’S A PHONE-FREE ZONE
Whilst of course, you’ll want to catch up on emails, chat with friends and share your pictures on Instagram, we live by the ethos that if you’re tapping away at a tiny screen, you’re not fully relaxing. So, we ask that mobile phone usage is limited. This way, you, and your fellow spa guests can enjoy peace and tranquillity.

GUESTS
At Nu Spa, we work hard to create a sociable, but relaxing atmosphere during your visit. However, we are unable to control the behaviour of others and therefore, if something or someone is affecting your day with us, please inform a member of our team and we will do whatever possible to rectify this.

FOOD & DRINK
Please may we kindly ask that our lovely clients refrain from bringing their own refreshments to the spa, in particular, alcohol. Clients found consuming their own alcohol on the premises will be politely asked to leave. If you fancy an alcoholic drink as part of your day, feel free to head to our hotel bar area where you will be welcomed! Most of our clients even head to the hotel in their robes!

At Nu Spa, we serve a small selection of snacks, ie, crisps and cakes, for you to enjoy around our pool area. However, if you are looking to include lunch/dinner as part of the day, please contact the hotel directly for this to be arranged.

PARKING
Please note, the car park post code for Nu Spa Manchester is M4 4EW. Parking is subject to availability. We advise you to research the car park location prior to your spa day with us and also any local alternative car parks, as there are many that can be found within a 5-minute walk to the spa.

CHILDREN
Please be aware that the hotel children’s swim times/children’s swim lessons are as follows:

Monday to Friday – 7am-10am / 5pm-8pm
Saturday to Sunday – 8am-10am / 4pm-7pm

During these times, the poolside area may become busier, therefore, if you are looking for your spa day to be quieter, you may want to arrange your day around this.
